ARC Community Support Systems operates three 8-bed group homes and one 16-bed group home which provide around the clock assistance and support. The 16-bed home, named Oakview, and two of the 8-bed homes, Merchant House and KC House, are all in Effingham. The fourth home, Smith House, is in Teutopolis.

The Illinois Department of Human Services funds and licenses the three 8-bed homes through the Community Integrated Living Arrangement (CILA) Program. Oakview, the 16-bed home, built and dedicated in 2004, is an Intermediate Care Facility for the Developmentally Disabled (ICF/DD) and is funded through the State of Illinois / Department of Public Aid & Medicaid.

Individuals who live at the ARC-CSS homes are encouraged to be as independent as possible. Each person works with a case manager to develop an Individualized Program Plan to help them choose what they would like to learn and where they would like to go. Our staff work with our residents every step of the way.

For individuals who wish to live independently or with their families, ARC-CSS also provides an Intermittent Support program. Generally, this program provides services such as transportation to the grocery store or doctors appointments; training in cooking, home maintenance, finances and safety.
